MY PERSONAL STYLE
I think it’s important to distinguish between style and fashion – for me style is about the expression of ones self. And a lot of that has to do with the confidence in which you wear something; if you feel you’re pulling it off, then nobody in the world can tell you otherwise. I have a hard time describing my personal style as I wear a wide range of looks, if you asked my friends they’d probably just call me ‘hipster’. I guess I’d say my style is bohemian/street/prep, with movement towards a Scandinavian influence (minimalistic/neutral tones) due to my current job and appreciation for their all-around design concepts.
MY FASHION MUST-HAVES
Biker-style leather jacket, white-oxford button-up, black skinny jeans (I like Nudie & Acne for brands) & dark brown Chelsea boots.
I moved here for the opportunities and the overall accessibility of things (business, fashion, startups, people, etc) that I believe is unparalleled anywhere else in the world. I didn’t want to be confined by the constraints of organisational bureaucracy and wanted to be rewarded for hard work and vision.
I’ve lived all over the world, and funnily enough, Shanghai is the only place I’ve ever felt at home and amongst equals. Everywhere else I go people think I’m a crazy person because of the rate and frequency I like to do things and my general pace of life. I’m constantly inspired by the people around me here, what they’re doing, what they’re trying to do and often what they propose we do together. It’s the people and the constant motivation that comes with them that keeps me here.
