MY PERSONAL STYLE
If you ask any one of my 4 friends… (kidding I have more than 4), “what is Nick’s personal style?”, I guarantee they would come back at you with the word “ridiculous”. I would prefer the term “flair” personally, but what can you do eh?
I am probably the least edgy/hipster person although I am partial to a pair of skinny jeans and I’m a big fan of the smart casual. My bog standard outfit would consist of chelsea boots, jeans, shirt and a “flair” blazer. In terms of my very professional/completely unprofessional life, my weapon of choice is always a 3-piece suit – not a 2-piece… ever.
MY FASHION MUST-HAVES
A pocket square/handkerchief that screams, “I’m obnoxious!”.
Work brought me to Shanghai. After studying Chinese in Beijing a couple of years back, I fell in love with China. It doesn’t get much better than being an expat that works in Shanghai – the lifestyle is epic. Working back home would be the worst, but working out here feels like a working holiday. There is always something going on and any night of the week you could go out and potentially have the best night of your life. For me, there is a real buzz about the city and there is a real sense of opportunity that you just don’t get back in the UK. But probably the best thing about living in Shanghai is that it is cheap as F**k! Why would I ever go back to the UK to work in London where rent is pretty much double what you pay here, to live an hour away from work door to door, when I can live in the centre of one of the best cities in the world and live 5 minutes from work, and a Wednesday Wing Night down at the Shed be my favourite night of the week.
But in all seriousness, the different kinds of people you get to meet in this city of ours and the situations you find yourself in are something quite special – there will definitely be a big old chapter in my memoirs about this place.
